Ohio began recording deaths on the county level in 1867 and may be found in the courthouse, county archives, or genealogical/historical societies. Records during this time period may be incomplete. On 20 December 1908, recording began at the state-level and copies are available from the Ohio Department of Vital Statistics as well as county health departments.

You may view early records at Pike County death records. You will need to create a free account to view them. They may also be located at subscription sites.
